Saying Goodbye... On January 1, 2010 IABW will end its amazing 12+ year run as “Minnesota’s Premier Social Organization of People of Size”. The New Year’s Gala (“The Final Countdown”) will be the last official In a BIG Way event. The natural reaction would be to speculate about why we have decided to stop planning events. The simple answer is that we are worn out. We’d like to see the group continue, but significant changes (mostly positive) in our lives have made it difficult for us to find the time and energy to do the group justice. 2009 made it clear that we have the ability to keep the group running on autopilot. However, that isn’t enough to keep the group alive. So, rather than watch IABW dwindle, or allow it to become a burden, we have decided to stop organizing events. We aren’t sure what will become of IABW as an entity. We will keep the site going for awhile longer—most likely in a bare bones format that does not require administration. The personals and profiles will be removed. We will keep one board working for community event announcements. That way, if somebody out there wants to take on the responsibility, things like game night, and the clothing sale can continue. A facebook account will go up in early December so that IABW members can stay in contact. We encourage everybody to come to this year’s New Year’s Gala. This is an opportunity for everyone who has been a part of this spectacular group to dance one last dance, laugh with old friends, and say goodbye to a group that has been a BIG part so many lives. IABW is riding off into the sunset, but not before we have one last night of food, friends and festive frolicking! _____________________ There are three ways to attend: 1. Dinner, Dance and Midnight Swim (RSVP only, $35.00 plus $89.00 for hotel room) 2. Dinner and Dance (RSVP only, $35.00) 3. Dance only (Payable at the door, $15.00) ...all three come with a glass of champagne and party favors at midnight. RSVP for options 1, or 2, must be made by December 17th.
